FAQs

Do I need a license?

Well sometimes you do and sometimes you don't, please check with council if you do need a license. To obtain a Food Business Licence please visit the Brisbane City Council website, applications usually take 2-4 weeks, you may also require additional licences such as Temporary Food Stall Licence for selling goods at the markets if you need to modify food there. If you are selling food as is and the products have been made in our kitchen you might not require this licence, please check with Brisbane City Council first. If you are applying for a new Food Business Licence you will need to become a mamber and pay our bond/registration fee before our addresscan be used on the food business licence application form. Once you are an approved member and you have paid all fees and sent through insurance details  you can use our address which is 5/219 Hawken Dr St Lucia QLD 4068 as the official address where the activity will be carried out in the Food Business License form . We can also send you an information pack with all the details of the council inspection and how to be well prepared (it's not as scary as it sounds!) If you have an Existing licence you will need to transfer the address to us.

Do I need insurance?

Yes, you must have Product and Public Liability Insurance to use our kitchen to the value of at least $10,000,000. This is to cover you for your own negligence, The Greenhive Kitchen has Public and Liability Insurance of $20,000,000 but that is only to cover for our own negligence. You can obtain this kind of insurance from most popular insurance companies.

Is The Greenhive Kitchen HACCP Certified?

HACCP Certification (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) only applies to a food process and not a place where the food is made, but we will be more than happy to help if you need to be HACCP certified.

Do you have parking?

Yes we have free parking onsite and there is also plenty of parking around, but please make sure you check how long you are allowed to park as in some places there is only 10 minutes and 1 or 2 hour parking.

Will I be charged when I need to pick up the finished products?

If you need to pick up the products on a date or time different to when you have booked to cook your products (say if you baked the goods on friday, but need to pick them up on Saturday morning for the markets), we will not charge you if it will only take half an hour or less, you will firstly need to send us an email with a date and time you require to pick up your products and we can book half an hour free in our calendar, if you require more than half an hour you will need to book it and pay online as 1 hour or more.
